the complete guide to selling Notion templates in 2025
Notion templates were my second digital product, and they're still one of my best performers.
Here's what I didn't expect: they're easier to make than most digital products, buyers use them immediately, and the people who buy good templates often come back for more. The template market is competitive — but it's also massive, and the majority of templates being sold are either too generic or too complicated to use.

That gap is where the money is.
Here's the complete guide to selling Notion templates in 2025.
Why Notion Templates Are a Great Digital Product
Low barrier to create. If you use Notion, you already have the raw material. The setup you use personally — your content calendar, your project tracker, your budget template — is sellable with some cleanup and documentation.
High perceived value for the price. A well-designed, well-documented Notion template can sell for $15–$97 depending on complexity. The buyer is paying for saved time and a proven system.
Buyers use them immediately. Unlike a guide that requires reading, a template gets used on day one. High immediate value creates happy customers and good reviews.
Evergreen demand. People start using Notion every day. New users are always looking for templates to shortcut their setup.
What Actually Sells
After selling templates for over a year and studying the market, here's what I've found actually moves:
Niche-specific templates beat general ones. "Freelance client management dashboard" sells better than "project management template." The more specific your target user, the more they feel like the template was made for them.
Problem-solving templates beat feature-showcase templates. "Never miss a client deadline again" is a better template premise than "a beautifully organized workspace." Buyers want problems solved.
Templates that require no Notion expertise to use. If a buyer has to spend 2 hours figuring out your template, they'll ask for a refund. Simple, clear, immediately usable is the goal.
Templates with built-in documentation. A short video walkthrough or written guide inside the template (using Notion callouts and explanations) dramatically increases perceived value and reduces support requests.
Categories With the Most Demand
Based on my research and sales:
- Freelancer/solopreneur operations — client management, invoicing tracker, project pipeline, content calendar
- Personal finance — budget tracker, debt payoff planner, savings goal tracker
- Content creation — editorial calendar, YouTube video tracker, podcast production
- Job search — application tracker, networking follow-up system, interview prep hub
- Health and habits — habit tracker, meal planning, fitness log
- Small business — SOP library, team project management, customer pipeline
The highest-price templates I've sold are comprehensive "operating system" templates for freelancers — all-in-one workspaces that cover projects, clients, finances, and content in one place. These can sell for $47–$97.
How to Build a Notion Template That Sells
Step 1: Start with your own setup. Your own Notion workspace is the starting point. What do you use that someone else would find valuable? That's your product idea.
Step 2: Simplify ruthlessly. Your personal Notion setup probably has layers of complexity that make sense to you and would confuse a new user. Strip it down to the essentials. Remove anything that requires context to understand.
Step 3: Write instructions into the template. Use Notion callout blocks to add "How to use this section" notes throughout. Your template should explain itself. Buyers will figure it out without needing to contact you.
Step 4: Create a duplicate-ready version. Every Notion template needs a clean version buyers can duplicate. Make sure it looks good when blank — no sample data that confuses them.
Step 5: Record a 5-minute walkthrough. A short Loom video walking through the template's features dramatically increases conversions and reduces refund requests. Host it free on Loom and link to it from your product page.
Pricing Your Notion Templates
My pricing guidelines:
- Simple single-page tracker or calendar: $9–$17
- Multi-page functional workspace: $19–$37
- Comprehensive "operating system" template: $47–$97
- Template bundle (5+ templates): $29–$79
Don't price below $9. A $5 template triggers "is this even worth my time to download?" It doesn't feel premium enough to create the motivation to buy.
Where to Sell
I sell my Notion templates on MadeThis alongside my other digital products. The advantage of using one platform for everything: my buyers who purchase a template can easily discover my guides and vice versa. Cross-selling becomes automatic.
Some creators also sell on Gumroad or Etsy. Etsy has better built-in discovery but the fees hurt, and you don't own the customer relationship. I'd recommend starting on MadeThis — free to start, handles delivery, and gives you full customer data.

Marketing Your Notion Templates
SEO content. Write articles about the problems your templates solve. "How to manage freelance clients in Notion" attracts exactly the person who would buy your freelance client management template.
Pinterest. Create simple pins showing what the template looks like. Notion templates do well on Pinterest because they're visual and solution-oriented.
Reddit and community answers. Answer questions in r/Notion, r/Productivity, and niche-specific communities. When someone asks "how do you track your freelance projects?" mention your template as a resource.
Template galleries. The Notion Template Gallery gets a huge amount of traffic. You can submit a free version or demo version that links back to your paid full version.
The Compounding Effect
Notion templates compound well because they attract a specific, engaged audience. Someone who buys your content calendar template is likely to also want your blog post tracker. Someone who buys your budget template may want your debt payoff planner.
Bundle your templates after you have three or more, price the bundle at a 25% discount, and watch average order value increase.
This is how a single Notion template turns into a $2,000/month product line.
