Is MadeThis.com Worth It? My Honest Review After Using It for 6 Months

I've been running my online business on MadeThis for about six months now, and every week someone asks me the same question: Is MadeThis actually worth it?
So here's my honest answer. No affiliate hype, no sugarcoating. Just what I've experienced after half a year of real use.
Why I Tried MadeThis in the First Place
Power Up Your Business
Get an AI co-founder that works 24/7 — builds, markets, and grows alongside you.
Before MadeThis, I was cobbling together a business with Gumroad for payments, a separate email tool, and a self-hosted website I was constantly fighting with. It worked — sort of — but it was fragmented. I was spending more time managing infrastructure than building products.
I switched to MadeThis because it promised to be an all-in-one platform built specifically for solo creators. No code, no monthly tool stack, no headaches. I was skeptical. I've heard that pitch before.
What MadeThis Actually Costs
Right now MadeThis has a free tier and paid plans. The free tier lets you get started selling immediately — they take a small transaction fee, similar to how Gumroad works. As you scale up, you move to a paid plan that reduces or eliminates that fee.
The paid plans are priced competitively. I'm on a mid-tier plan, and when I do the math against what I was paying for multiple tools before, MadeThis is actually cheaper. That surprised me. Most "all-in-one" platforms charge a premium for convenience. MadeThis doesn't, at least not at the scale I'm operating.
I break down the exact numbers on the MadeThis pricing page if you want to dig into the tiers.
What You Actually Get
Here's what's included that genuinely matters to me:
Product hosting and delivery. Upload your ebook, course, template, or whatever — MadeThis handles the storage, delivery, and download pages. It works flawlessly.
Checkout and payments. No Stripe setup, no PayPal configuration. MadeThis handles all of it. You get paid, they handle the infrastructure.
The AI co-founder. This is the feature I was most skeptical about and ended up using the most. The AI helps you write product descriptions, sales page copy, and even suggests pricing. It's not magic — you still need to have an opinion about what you're selling — but it massively cuts down on the blank-page problem.
Audience tools. Email capture, basic email sends, product update notifications. It's not a full email marketing platform, but for a beginner or someone with under 5,000 subscribers, it handles the essentials.
Affiliate capabilities. You can set up affiliate links for your own products, which I use for cross-promotion.
What Surprised Me
The speed. I expected setup to take a few days. My first product was live in two hours. That includes writing the sales page, uploading the files, and configuring checkout. If you've ever tried to set up a WooCommerce store or configure a Kajabi site from scratch, you know what I mean — MadeThis is dramatically faster.
The other surprise was how good the checkout experience is. My conversion rate on the checkout page is noticeably higher than it was on my Gumroad products. I don't have a controlled experiment to point to, but my instinct is that MadeThis's checkout feels cleaner and more trustworthy to buyers.
What Could Be Better
I'm going to be straight here, because I think fake reviews that only list pros are useless.
The community is smaller. Gumroad has been around longer and has a bigger creator ecosystem. When I want to see what's working for other sellers, there's more content about Gumroad strategies than MadeThis strategies. This gap is closing, but it exists.
Brand recognition. When a customer sees "checkout powered by Gumroad," they probably know the name. MadeThis is newer and less recognized. I haven't had buyers balk at this, but it's something to be aware of.
The AI features are still maturing. The AI co-founder is useful, but it occasionally gives generic advice. It's improving — I've seen updates over the past six months — but it's not as sharp as a human advisor yet.
My Honest Verdict: Yes, It's Worth It
Here's where I land after six months: MadeThis is the best platform for creators who want to start fast and keep costs manageable while they figure out what sells.
It's not the right tool if you need deeply customized storefronts, advanced email automation, or a massive community around the platform. For those use cases, look at Kajabi or a more established tool.
But for the beginner or the solopreneur who just wants to publish a product and make sales? MadeThis removes every barrier I can think of. No tech headaches, no expensive tool stack, no complicated setup.
I've made real money on this platform. My products are live, the checkout works, and I spend my time building things instead of managing infrastructure. That's worth a lot.

But if you're on the fence, just start. MadeThis has a free tier — there's genuinely no risk in trying it.
