Where Teachable Falls Short

Pricing. Teachable's free plan charges a 10% transaction fee. Their Basic plan ($39/month) drops to 5% plus credit card processing fees. Their Pro plan ($119/month) removes transaction fees entirely. Getting to zero transaction fees costs $119/month — before you've made a single sale.

Upsells and bundles are basic. Order bumps and one-click upsells — features that meaningfully increase revenue — are limited or unavailable depending on your plan tier.

Not great for digital downloads. Teachable is optimized for courses. If you want to sell ebooks, templates, or simple digital files alongside your course, the platform handles it awkwardly.

The Teachable Student Experience

I enrolled in several courses on Teachable to evaluate it from the student side.

The experience is solid. Content is organized, progress is clearly tracked, the mobile app works well. If you deliver your course well, the platform gets out of the way.

My Honest Take

Teachable is a legitimate, professional platform. If I had a large, mature course business and needed enterprise-level reliability and compliance features, I'd take it seriously.
