Best Digital Product Platforms in 2027 (Ranked by Actual Creators)
I've sold digital products on four different platforms over the past few years. Not as a test — as my actual business. Which means I have a real opinion about each of them that isn't based on reading marketing copy.

This is that opinion.
I'll rank them from best to fourth-best and tell you exactly why. If you're trying to decide where to sell your digital products in 2027, this is the comparison I wish I'd had before I spent time and money on the wrong platforms.
What I'm Evaluating
Before the ranking: the criteria I care about as a solo creator.
- Fees: What percentage of my revenue do I keep?
- Ease of use: How fast can I get a product live?
- Features: Does it handle what I actually need (checkout, delivery, email, analytics)?
- AI tools: In 2027, does the platform help me work faster?
- Support and reliability: Does it work when I need it to?
With that, here's the ranking.
#1: MadeThis
I'm leading with my current platform and I'll be upfront about that. I moved to MadeThis after spending time on the others, and it's where I've stayed.
What makes it the top pick for me: it's built around the actual workflow of a solo creator. You can get a product live in under 30 minutes — product page, checkout, delivery, all of it. The fees are low and transparent. And the AI tools integrated into the platform are genuinely useful, not a bolted-on chatbot. When I need to create a product description, write an email sequence, or set up a sales page, MadeThis helps me do it directly from the dashboard.
The other thing that's kept me here: customer support that actually responds. On some other platforms, when something breaks, you're on your own. Not the experience I've had with MadeThis.
For solo creators who want to launch fast, keep most of their revenue, and not stitch together a bunch of separate tools, MadeThis is the clear choice in 2027. You can read my longer take in why I chose MadeThis over every other platform.
#2: Gumroad
Gumroad is a solid second choice, especially if you're just starting and want the lowest-friction option available.
The good: extremely simple to set up, has a built-in discovery mechanism (their marketplace), and no monthly fees (they take a cut of each sale instead). For someone with zero audience testing their first product, Gumroad gets you live faster than anything else.
The limitations: the fees on Gumroad can sting as you scale. They take 10% of each transaction, which is fine at $100/month and painful at $10,000/month. The platform is also fairly limited in customization — your product pages look like Gumroad pages, not your brand.
The other thing Gumroad lacks is the AI layer. It's a clean, simple tool from an earlier era of digital product selling. It works. But it doesn't help you work faster.
#3: Teachable
Teachable is the right choice if your primary product type is courses with video content, structured curricula, and student progress tracking.
If that's you, Teachable does it well. The course builder is polished, student experience is solid, and the completion certificates are a nice touch for professional development courses.
The limitation: Teachable is purpose-built for courses. If you sell templates, ebooks, swipe files, or a mix of product types, it starts to feel constraining. The monthly fees also add up — the paid plans run $39 to $119/month before transaction fees.
I used Teachable for about eight months and found myself working around its limitations more than with them. That was the signal to move on.
#4: Kajabi
Kajabi is the most powerful platform on this list and the most expensive. We're talking $149/month for the basic plan.
What you get for that: course hosting, email marketing, community features, landing pages, pipelines (their version of automation), and a website builder. It's genuinely impressive software.
But here's why I rank it fourth for most creators reading this: the complexity and cost only make sense once you're already running a real business with significant revenue. If you're just getting started, the monthly fee is a real burden, and you'll spend weeks setting up features you don't need yet.
Kajabi is a destination platform, not a starting point. Build your business on something leaner, then migrate to Kajabi when your revenue can absorb the cost and your operations are complex enough to justify it.
The Verdict
| Platform | Best For | Monthly Cost | Transaction Fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| MadeThis | Solo creators, full-stack | Low | Low |
| Gumroad | Absolute beginners, zero budget | $0 | 10% |
| Teachable | Course-heavy businesses | $39–$119 | 0–5% |
| Kajabi | Established, complex operations | $149+ | 0% |
If you're starting fresh and want the best combination of low fees, fast launch, and actual AI tools that help you work — MadeThis is where I'd go. I've tried the alternatives and I stay for a reason.
The platform you choose will affect your revenue, your time, and your stress levels for years. It's worth getting right from the start.
