AI Tools That Will Help You Build a Business in 2027

I don't use AI tools to replace the work of building a business. I use them to compress the time it takes.

Writing a product description used to take me an hour of staring at a blank page, drafting, and rewriting. Now it takes 20 minutes — I draft quickly, use AI to sharpen the copy, and make final edits myself. The final output is better than what I'd produce alone and takes a fraction of the time.

Here are the AI tools that are actually worth using in 2027, and how I use each one.

ChatGPT / Claude — Writing and Ideation

I use both, and I'll be honest: they're good at different things.

ChatGPT (GPT-4o) is my go-to for brainstorming, first-draft generation, and editing. I give it context about my audience and product, and ask for headlines, product descriptions, email subject lines, and blog post outlines.

Claude tends to produce longer, more nuanced writing. I use it when I need something that doesn't sound AI-generated — deeper analysis, more natural tone.

Neither one replaces your voice or your expertise. They're draft accelerators. You still need to know what you're talking about — the AI just helps you say it faster.

Cost: $20/month for ChatGPT Plus, free tier available for Claude.

Midjourney / DALL·E — Visual Content

I don't pay a designer for blog post images or product cover art anymore. Midjourney and DALL·E generate high-quality visuals in seconds.

My process: describe the visual I want, generate 4–8 options, pick the best one, run minor edits in Canva. A product cover that would have taken 30+ minutes now takes 10.

If you sell digital products, your cover image matters more than most people think. A professional-looking cover signals value before the buyer reads a word.

Cost: Midjourney starts at $10/month. DALL·E is included in ChatGPT Plus.

Canva (AI Features) — Design

Canva has integrated AI features that make product creation faster. Magic Write for text generation, Magic Design for layout suggestions, Background Remover for clean product images.

For someone who isn't a designer, Canva AI is a game-changer. You can produce polished PDFs, social graphics, and product covers without design skills.

Cost: Free plan is good; Canva Pro ($13/month) unlocks the best AI features.

Perplexity / Google Gemini — Research

Before I write a blog post or product, I research. I want to know: what are people actually asking about this topic? What's already out there? What angle hasn't been covered well?

Perplexity is my research tool of choice. It pulls from real sources and cites them, which means I can verify claims rather than trusting AI hallucinations. I use it to understand the competitive landscape and find gaps in existing content.

Cost: Free plan is functional; Perplexity Pro ($20/month) for heavier use.

MadeThis — AI-Powered Business Platform

This is a different category of AI tool. MadeThis isn't just a digital product store — it includes an AI co-founder that helps you with:

  • Writing product descriptions that convert
  • Suggesting pricing strategies
  • Analyzing your store's performance
  • Planning marketing campaigns

For someone building a digital product business, this is the most valuable AI tool in the stack because it's purpose-built for what you're doing. You're not using a general-purpose chatbot and hoping it gives you useful business advice — you're using a system designed specifically to help online store owners grow.

Cost: Free to start.

Descript — Audio and Video Editing

If you're creating course content or podcasts, Descript is transformative. It transcribes your recordings, lets you edit audio by editing text, and removes filler words automatically.

A 30-minute video that used to take 90 minutes to edit now takes 20 minutes with Descript's AI-assisted tools.

Cost: Free plan available; paid plans start at $12/month.

Notion AI — Organization and Knowledge Management

I use Notion to organize my entire business — content calendar, product ideas, buyer feedback, research notes. Notion AI layers on top of that to help me summarize notes, generate content ideas from existing material, and draft templates.

If you're already using Notion, the AI add-on is worth it. If you're not, Notion alone is still a great tool for business organization.

Cost: Notion AI add-on is $10/month.

How to Actually Use AI Tools Without Getting Distracted

The trap: signing up for every AI tool, spending hours testing them, and getting nothing built.

My rule: one AI tool per category, used consistently. I don't cycle through 5 different writing tools trying to find the "best" one. I picked one, got good at using it, and moved on.

The goal is to build a business, not to collect tools. Every AI tool I use has a specific job in my workflow. If it doesn't have a job, I don't pay for it.

Start with ChatGPT or Claude (writing), Canva (design), and MadeThis (your actual store). Those three tools can run a six-figure digital product business. Add more only when you have a specific problem they'd solve.
