AI + MadeThis: The Combination That Changed How I Work

For about a year, I ran my digital product business the hard way.

I was using a patchwork of tools — a separate payment processor, a different platform for file hosting, a third tool for email, manual processes for things that should have been automatic. Every time someone bought something, there was a checklist I had to run through.

Meanwhile, content creation was its own grind. Blog posts took 4-5 hours. Product creation took weeks. Sales copy took forever to write because I'd stare at a blank page trying to figure out where to start.

Then two things changed at roughly the same time: I consolidated my business onto MadeThis, and I got serious about using AI tools in my daily workflow.

The combination is what I want to talk about.

What MadeThis Solved

The platform problem was mostly friction. Every tool in a patchwork stack is something that can break, something you have to log into, something that doesn't integrate cleanly with the others.

When I moved to MadeThis, that friction mostly disappeared:

  • Checkout: handled automatically, no integration to maintain
  • File delivery: instant and automatic after purchase
  • Customer records: all in one place
  • Storefront: clean product pages without coding

I wasn't spending mental energy on operations anymore. I'd open the dashboard, see what sold, and close it. That was it.

That freed up energy. And freed-up energy is what I put into creating.

What AI Solved

The creation problem was mostly time and blank-page paralysis.

AI tools — primarily ChatGPT and Claude — changed both:

Time: A 1,000-word blog post that used to take 4-5 hours now takes 60-90 minutes. I use AI for the outline, the first draft structure, and the editing pass. I do the actual writing in the middle — adding examples, opinions, and voice.

Blank-page paralysis: The hardest part of content creation used to be starting. With AI, I start every piece with a conversation. I describe what I want to write, ask for an outline, get momentum from the first AI-generated structure, and then I'm off. The blank page is never really blank anymore.

Product creation: A guide that used to take two weeks takes 2-3 days now. Same quality, dramatically less time.

Why the Combination Matters

Here's the key insight: neither improvement alone would have been transformational.

If I had AI tools but still a chaotic operations stack, I'd create more but the backend would still eat my time and energy.

If I had MadeThis but no AI tools, I'd have cleaner operations but still spend 80% of my working hours on content creation, with the bottleneck just moved.

Together: operations run automatically, creation happens fast, and the time I have goes into growth — new products, new content, new strategies.

That's the combination that changed things for me.

What My Workday Looks Like Now

Morning:

  • Check MadeThis dashboard (5 min — see what sold overnight, scan for any customer issues)
  • Write today's blog post using AI-assisted process (60-90 min)
  • Schedule social posts repurposed from the blog post (15 min)

Afternoon (a few days a week):

  • Work on a new product or improve an existing one
  • Review analytics
  • Respond to any customer questions

That's it. 2-3 hours on a normal day. The business runs while I'm not.

My Honest Take on MadeThis

I'm not going to pretend it's perfect. No platform is. But for a lean, one-person digital product business, it's the best tool I've found for the price and the use case.

I compared the main alternatives at /compare/madethis-vs-kajabi and /reviews/madethis. Kajabi and similar platforms have more features — but they cost 4-5x more per month and come with complexity you don't need if you're a solo operator.

For most people reading this: start lean. Add complexity when you've outgrown simplicity. You're not there yet.

The Start

If you're still running your digital product business on a patchwork of tools, or if you haven't started yet: get the foundation right first.

One platform for checkout and delivery. AI tools for creation. Focus your energy on products and content, not operations.

That's the combination. It changed how I work. It can change how you work too.
