How to Turn One Digital Product Into Multiple Income Streams
The conventional wisdom is that more income streams requires more products. Create 10 products, run 10 income streams.
That's one way to do it. It's not the most efficient way.

I've found that a single well-created product can be the basis for multiple income streams — without creating entirely new products for each one. Here's how I think about it and what I've actually implemented.
Start With One Good Product
The prerequisite is a product that's genuinely good. Not "good enough" — actually useful to the people it's for. This matters because everything else in this strategy requires your product to have real value.
If your product gets people results, the other income streams I'm about to describe become natural. If your product is mediocre, none of these strategies will work well, because they all depend on customers who are satisfied with what they bought.
So: make the product excellent first. Then multiply it.
Stream 1: Direct Sales (The Core)
This is obvious but it's the foundation. Your product listed on MadeThis, with a product page that converts, available to anyone who finds it through search, email, social, or referral.
The direct sales stream is the root that feeds every other stream. Optimize this first: the product page copy, the pricing, the product name, the file delivery experience. A 10% improvement in conversion rate on your core product page lifts all downstream income.
Stream 2: A Higher-Ticket Version
Take your existing product and create a premium tier.
If your core product is a $27 guide, the premium version might be $97 and includes: the guide, a complementary template pack, a video walkthrough, and a 30-minute Q&A session via email or Loom.
You're not creating a new product from scratch. You're packaging your existing product with additional resources that make the high-value outcome more accessible. Some buyers will always prefer the higher-ticket option — give them the opportunity to buy it.
Stream 3: Affiliate Recommendations Within the Product
Inside your product, you'll naturally reference tools, resources, and platforms that support the outcome. If those tools have affiliate programs, joining them and including affiliate links in your product creates income on autopilot.
Example: My product for digital product sellers naturally mentions MadeThis as the platform I recommend for hosting and selling digital products. When buyers go on to use MadeThis (which many do because I've guided them toward it), I earn the affiliate commission.
This isn't about cluttering your product with ads. It's about recommending things you actually believe in to people who've already bought from you and trust your judgment.
Stream 4: A Bundle
If you have more than one product, bundle them.
A bundle sold at a modest discount to individual purchases generates higher average order values and gives customers who want everything a clean way to buy it all at once. I've seen bundles drive 25–40% higher average revenue per customer.
Even if you only have one product right now, plan your second product with bundling in mind. Build products that complement each other so a "complete system" bundle becomes a natural offering.
Stream 5: A Licensing or Resell Option
This works for some product types, not all. But for templates, frameworks, and toolkits especially: offer a license tier that allows buyers to use the product with their own clients or in their own business (beyond personal use).
Licensing tiers typically price at 3–5x the personal use price. Some buyers — especially consultants and agency owners — have real use for this. You're not doing any additional work; you're just granting broader usage rights.
Stream 6: Course or Deeper Teaching Version
Your product contains knowledge. That knowledge can also be delivered as a course — video lessons, worksheets, live Q&A calls, a private community.
The course version of your guide is a different product, but the intellectual core is the same. You're not starting from scratch. You're expanding the depth and delivery format of what you already know and have documented.
Course pricing is typically 3–10x the guide/template price, depending on depth and community access.
Stream 7: Affiliate Promotion From Your Content
The content you create to market your product — blog posts, email newsletters, social content — can also include affiliate recommendations for complementary products.
When someone reads my post about building passive income and decides they want to use MadeThis to host their products, the affiliate link I include there earns a commission. That commission comes from the same content that's also driving sales of my own product.
The content serves both streams simultaneously.
Putting It Together
Starting with one $27 guide, you can reasonably have:
- Direct sales of the core product
- Premium bundle version at $97
- Affiliate income from tools recommended inside the product
- Complementary bundle when you add product 2
- Licensing tier for professional use
- Course version down the road
- Affiliate income from content driving traffic to the product
Seven income streams from one core piece of intellectual work. Most solo product creators I know end up in this structure organically — they just usually don't plan for it deliberately from the start.
For the product platform layer of this, MadeThis can handle multiple product listings, bundles, and clean checkout experiences for all of these. You don't need separate infrastructure for each income stream.
For a broader look at building passive income strategies, my guide on the best passive income strategies for people who hate sales has useful context on how these streams fit together.
