Digital Product Ideas That Actually Sell in 2027 (From Someone Who's Tested Them)
I've created and sold a lot of digital products over the years. Some sold quickly and consistently. Others sat on my store page collecting dust despite what I thought was solid work.
The difference wasn't usually quality. It was product type and market fit. Some categories of digital products have fundamentally stronger buying demand than others.
Here's what I've learned from actually testing — not theorizing about — what sells.

Notion Templates: Still One of the Easiest Sells
Notion has reached a point where millions of people use it but the majority haven't built their own sophisticated templates. They want ready-made systems for managing projects, tracking habits, running their freelance business, or planning their life.
The best-selling Notion templates solve a specific pain point for a specific person. "Freelancer Client Manager" beats "Ultimate Productivity System" because the person who needs the first one can immediately see themselves using it.
What sells: freelancer project trackers, content planning dashboards, business finance trackers, and goal-setting systems. What doesn't sell as well: generic "life planner" templates that could be for anyone.
Average price point: $15–$49. Volume potential: very high if you get the SEO right.
How-To Guides and Playbooks (PDF Format)
Specific, actionable guides remain one of the most consistently strong-selling digital product formats. Not ebooks with 200 pages of theory — focused 20–40 page guides that take someone through a specific process from start to finish.
"How to Write Cold Emails That Get Responses: The 7-Step Framework I Use" at $27 will consistently outperform "The Complete Guide to Business Communication" at $47. Specificity wins.
The market signal to look for: what questions are people searching that have high frustration behind them? What process do people struggle with that you've genuinely mastered? That's where the product lives.
AI Prompt Packs and Workflows
AI is genuinely new for most people, and the gap between knowing a tool exists and knowing how to use it effectively is real. If you've developed strong workflows using Claude, ChatGPT, or other AI tools for a specific purpose — content creation, research, coding, marketing — that knowledge has value.
A well-curated prompt pack with context about when and how to use each prompt sells well to people who want AI results but haven't invested the hours you have in learning the tool.
Price range: $19–$59 depending on depth. Growing category as AI adoption continues.
Email Swipe Files and Marketing Templates
Marketing copy is hard. Most business owners know it's important and struggle with it constantly. A curated collection of real, high-performing email templates, subject lines, or social media scripts — with explanations of why they work — is something busy people will pay for without much hesitation.
This is a "done for you" product, which has inherently stronger conversion than "here's how to do it yourself" products. People pay a premium to skip the learning curve.
If you've spent time mastering email marketing, sales copywriting, or social media content — your templates have commercial value.
Digital Courses (But Only When the Topic Is Specific)
Courses sell when the outcome is specific and the topic is verifiable. "How to Pass the Google Analytics Certification" is a better course topic than "Master Analytics for Business." People can see the finish line clearly.
The challenge with courses: they take longer to create, harder to price-test, and require ongoing support and updating. Start with a guide or template, validate the market, and build the course once you know people are buying.
What Doesn't Sell Well
Generic productivity bundles: The market is saturated with productivity templates and journals. Unless you have a unique angle or a built-in audience, competing in this space is difficult.
"How I Made $X" stories without actionable content: People are tired of income porn. If you're going to share a success story, it needs to come with a specific, replicable framework.
Products priced by effort rather than value: A 50-page ebook isn't worth more than a 12-page guide just because it took longer to make. Price based on the outcome your buyer achieves, not the hours you put in.
Getting Your Products Live
Once you've validated a product idea, get it in front of buyers fast. I use MadeThis to sell all my digital products because the setup is fast (under two hours for a new product) and the checkout handles everything — payment, delivery, customer management — automatically.
The faster you can go from "I have a product idea" to "this is live and I'm testing whether people buy it," the faster you learn what works.
The best digital product is the one you actually create and put in front of real buyers. Start with what you know, pick the format with the clearest market demand, and go.
