I update this list periodically because the AI landscape moves fast and what was a wide-open opportunity in 2026 might be crowded in 2028. This is my mid-2028 honest assessment.

No hype. Real ranges. My honest opinion on each.

1. Selling AI Prompt Packs

Realistic income range: $200–$2,000/month (highly variable)

This one is real but the market has bifurcated. Generic prompt packs are essentially worthless now — there are too many of them and buyers have been burned. What sells are hyper-specific, professional-grade prompt systems for specific workflows.

The best examples I've seen: a prompt system for real estate agents to write property descriptions and client communications, a pack for HR managers to write job descriptions and performance review frameworks, a pack for freelance designers to write client proposals and scope of work documents.

Priced at $27–$49, selling 20 per month is $540–$980. Achievable with the right niche and some SEO or community presence. I sell mine on MadeThis.

2. AI-Assisted Ebooks and Short Guides

Realistic income range: $100–$800/month per title with consistent traffic

The ebook model works when you have a traffic source. Someone searching for "how to start a photography business" and finding a $17 ebook that solves that question will buy. Without traffic, ebooks sit.

AI tools — primarily Claude for long-form writing — cut ebook production time significantly. I can produce a polished 7,000–10,000 word ebook in a long weekend instead of a month. The leverage is in the production speed plus the right traffic source.

3. Notion Templates

Realistic income range: $300–$3,000+/month for a catalog

The Notion template market has matured but hasn't died. Niche-specific, well-built templates that solve real operational problems continue to sell well.

The ceiling for a solo creator with a focused catalog in one niche is higher than most people realize. $3,000+/month from templates is achievable if you've built a useful catalog and have some SEO momentum or social presence. See my full breakdown at /blog/how-to-sell-notion-templates-and-make-real-money-2028.

4. AI Ghostwriting Services

Realistic income range: $500–$5,000/month

This is still a services model, but AI makes it significantly more scalable. If you can ghostwrite LinkedIn posts, email newsletters, or business content using Claude to accelerate drafts, you can take on more clients than a purely manual writer.

The best version of this business is a productized service: "I'll write 12 LinkedIn posts per month for $400" — same deliverable, same price, same scope, repeated across multiple clients. With AI assistance, one person can handle 5–8 clients doing this work.

5. AI Consulting and Workflow Audits

Realistic income range: $500–$3,000/month

Still a real opportunity for people who genuinely understand how to implement AI in business workflows. The market for "show me how to use AI in my specific business" has not been saturated at all — there are just a lot of people who call themselves AI consultants but can't actually deliver.

If you can come in, understand someone's workflow, and show them specifically where and how to use AI tools to save meaningful time, that's worth $150–$500 for a session. The niche version of this (specific to an industry) earns more.

6. Digital Art and Design Assets

Realistic income range: $200–$1,500/month

AI-generated art and design assets — backgrounds, textures, icon sets, illustration styles — have found a real market among creators who need assets they don't want to produce manually. Tools like Midjourney and newer generation tools produce high-quality, licensable assets.

The keys: clearly license your work for commercial use, sell in packs, and target creators and small businesses rather than enterprise (different legal requirements). MadeThis works well for selling these.

7. Affiliate Blogging With AI

Realistic income range: $200–$5,000+/month (timeline: 6–18 months to meaningful income)

This is the one I've personally invested the most in. AI has made high-quality SEO content much faster to produce. A blog that used to take 2 years to build to meaningful traffic can potentially be built in 12–18 months with consistent, AI-assisted publishing.

The key is still quality and niche selection. Affiliate blogging about AI tools, digital products, and online business — pointing traffic toward platforms like MadeThis — converts well when the content is genuinely helpful and the SEO targeting is smart.

The income is slow to start and then compounds. It's not a get-rich-quick play. But the ceiling on it is higher than most of the other items on this list.

The Honest Assessment

Every one of these works. None of them is easy. The ones that look most passive (ebooks, templates, affiliate blogging) take the most upfront work and the longest to see returns. The ones that look most active (consulting, ghostwriting) produce faster income but don't scale without adding people or productizing aggressively.

The sweet spot I've found: build a product catalog (prompt packs + templates + ebooks), sell it on MadeThis, and drive traffic with an affiliate blog. Slow to ramp, but once the flywheel turns, it keeps turning.
