7 Passive Income Streams I'm Building Right Now
I want to be upfront about something: "passive income" is not actually passive.
Every income stream I'm about to describe required real work to build. Some of them required months of consistent effort before they paid anything meaningful. None of them showed up on their own.
What they are is asymmetric. I did a lot of work upfront, and now they generate revenue with much less ongoing effort than a typical job. That's the actual definition of passive income that matters: high upfront work, then compounding returns.

Here are the seven streams I'm building right now.
1. Digital Product Sales
My primary stream. I sell ebooks, templates, and guides through my store on MadeThis.
How it works: I create a product once, set up the checkout and automatic delivery, then drive traffic to it through SEO content and my email list. Every sale is automatic — no manual work.
Current state: This is my biggest income stream. It took about four months of consistent product building and content publishing to get it to meaningful numbers.
What makes it work: The combination of specific products (niche topics with clear buyer intent) and organic search traffic. The content I wrote six months ago is still driving sales today.
2. Affiliate Commissions
I recommend tools and platforms I genuinely use — when someone signs up through my link, I earn a commission.
How it works: I include affiliate links naturally in blog posts, in my email newsletter, and in my product guides. No separate affiliate review site — just honest mentions in the content I'd write anyway.
Current state: Meaningful secondary income. Not my biggest stream, but growing every month as my content library grows.
What makes it work: Only promoting things I actually use and would recommend without a commission. My audience can tell the difference.
3. SEO Blog Content (Traffic Asset)
This isn't a separate income stream — it's the engine that powers most of the others. But I treat it as an investment with compounding returns.
How it works: I write search-optimized articles around topics my target audience is searching for. These articles rank on Google and drive traffic to my products and affiliate links indefinitely.
Current state: My blog now generates consistent daily traffic from articles I published months ago. The return on time invested is extraordinary because the traffic compounds over time.
What makes it work: Picking topics with real buyer intent, not just high search volume. Articles about "how to make money online" compete with the whole internet. Articles about specific tools, platforms, and workflows compete with much less.
4. Email Newsletter + Product Recommendations
My email list is one of my most valuable assets. Every new subscriber enters a welcome sequence that introduces my best content and my primary product.
How it works: Traffic from my blog (and other sources) signs up for my list. The automated sequence converts a meaningful percentage into buyers — without me sending a single individual email.
Current state: My welcome sequence converts at around 9%. That means roughly 1 in 11 new subscribers buys something within 30 days of joining.
What makes it work: The sequence is personal, non-spammy, and genuinely helpful. It delivers real value — my best posts, honest product recommendations — before it asks for anything.
5. Product Bundles
Every few months I take existing products and package them together at a discount as a limited bundle.
How it works: I email my list with a 5–7 day bundle promotion. No new products to build — just new packaging of things that already exist.
Current state: Not a constant income stream, but a reliable spike. My last bundle earned over $300 in a week from products I'd already built.
What makes it work: Urgency (limited time), value (30–40% discount vs. buying separately), and targeting buyers who already trust me but haven't bought a second product yet.
6. Back-Catalog Product Sales
This is the compounding effect of having multiple products over time. Older products continue selling — sometimes because they rank in search, sometimes because new buyers work their way through my catalog.
How it works: Passive by nature. Products I launched 8–10 months ago still sell regularly.
Current state: My catalog has grown to six products. The oldest products aren't my biggest sellers individually, but as a group they add meaningful revenue.
What makes it work: Building products that solve timeless problems, not trend-dependent topics. "How to price your digital products" sells in 2027 the same way it sold in 2025.
7. Speaking/Partnerships (Early Stage)
This one is still being built. A few small sponsorships and content partnerships have come through as my site traffic has grown.
How it works: Companies in adjacent spaces occasionally reach out about featuring their products. I'm selective — only things I'd actually recommend.
Current state: Small and inconsistent. I don't count on it yet.
What makes it work: Authority and traffic. This stream grows automatically as the SEO content and email list grow.
The Honest Summary
Most of my income comes from streams 1 and 2. The others are real but smaller.
The theme across all of them: the work I put in six months ago is paying off today. That's the actual definition of passive income — and it's why starting now, even when results are slow, is always the right call.
