10 Digital Product Ideas You Can Create This Weekend
10 Digital Product Ideas You Can Create This Weekend
I've built products that took me six months and products that took me two days. Guess which ones I'd recommend to a beginner?
The best first digital product is one that:
- You can create in a weekend (not six months)
- Solves a specific, felt problem
- Requires no technical skills or complex tools

Here are 10 ideas that hit all three. Each one is something I've either built myself or watched other creators sell successfully.
1. A Notion Template
This is my personal recommendation for most beginners. Notion templates are fast to create (if you already use Notion) or learnable in a weekend, they solve clear organizational problems, and buyers actively search for them.
Popular categories: freelance client trackers, project management systems, content calendars, personal finance dashboards, book trackers.
Price range: $9–$49. Specific, well-designed templates in competitive niches can go higher.
Time to create: 4–8 hours if you're building from scratch. Less if you're cleaning up something you already use.
2. A Canva Template Pack
Canva templates are one of the most in-demand digital product categories right now. Businesses, social media managers, coaches, and creators all need professional-looking graphics and often don't have design skills.
Common templates: Instagram post packs, Pinterest templates, presentation decks, lead magnet covers, media kits.
Price range: $15–$65 for a pack of 10–30 templates.
Time to create: One focused weekend is enough for a solid 20-template pack.
3. A Checklist or Workbook
Checklists are underrated as a product. They're fast to create (a Google Doc or PDF), highly actionable, and buyers love them because they can use them immediately.
Examples: "Launch Your First Product Checklist," "Weekly Business Review Workbook," "New Hire Onboarding Checklist."
Price range: $7–$29.
Time to create: 2–5 hours.
4. A Short Ebook or Guide
A focused, problem-solving ebook doesn't need to be long. The sweet spot is 20–40 pages that answer one question thoroughly.
Not "The Complete Guide to Everything About Freelancing." Something like: "How to Raise Your Freelance Rates Without Losing Clients."
Specific, actionable, useful. If you can write 1,500 words a day, you can finish this in a weekend.
Price range: $17–$47.

5. A Spreadsheet Template
Excel and Google Sheets templates are highly searched, easy to create, and genuinely useful. Budget trackers, business expense trackers, social media planners, invoice calculators — if you use a spreadsheet for something regularly, other people probably need it too.
Price range: $9–$39.
Time to create: 3–8 hours depending on complexity.
6. A Swipe File or Prompt Pack
Collections of copy templates, ChatGPT prompts, email scripts, or pitch templates are extremely popular because they save people time on tasks they do repeatedly.
A "Swipe File of 50 Subject Lines That Get Opens" or "100 ChatGPT Prompts for Freelancers" sells well because the value is immediately clear.
Price range: $9–$37.
Time to create: One afternoon to one day.
7. A Mini-Course (Written Format)
A written mini-course is not a video course. It's a structured guide broken into lessons, delivered as a PDF or Notion doc.
"A 5-Day Email List Building Course" could be five well-written lessons of 300–500 words each. That's achievable in a weekend. Price it like a course ($27–$97) because the structure and depth justify it.
Price range: $27–$97.
Time to create: One focused weekend.
8. A Social Media Caption Pack
Businesses and content creators constantly need social media content. A pack of 30–50 done-for-you captions for a specific niche (restaurants, coaches, fitness businesses, real estate agents) is a product with clear value.
Price range: $17–$47.
Time to create: 4–8 hours.
9. A Resource List or Toolkit
Curated resource lists save people hours of research. "The Best AI Tools for Freelancers (Tested and Ranked)" or "Complete Toolkit for Starting a Podcast" — anything that aggregates and organizes information people would otherwise have to hunt down themselves.
Price range: $7–$27.
Time to create: One day.
10. A Planning System
A 90-day planner, quarterly goal-setting system, or annual review template that people can download and use immediately.
Price range: $17–$47.
Time to create: 4–8 hours.
Where to Sell Them
Once you've created your product, you need a place to sell it that handles checkout and file delivery automatically.
I use MadeThis.com for all my products. The AI Copilot helps me write the product description (probably the hardest part for most people), and the checkout works out of the box.
I've written about what makes product descriptions actually sell here: how to write a digital product description that sells.
The Mistake to Avoid
The biggest mistake with any of these ideas is trying to make them "perfect" before you launch.
Your first product doesn't need to be your best product. It needs to be good enough to solve a real problem for someone. You will learn more from selling your first imperfect product than from spending three extra months polishing it.
Pick one idea from this list. Build it this weekend. List it. Share it somewhere your buyer hangs out. See what happens.
The entire point of your first product is to prove to yourself that the model works. Everything else comes after that.
